Recently Wesburn-Millgrove Fire Brigade recognised one of its members for his outstanding efforts in the annual Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb.

Tony Lewis will this year tackle the Stair Climb for the tenth time on 7 September.  Over his nine climbs so far he has raised more than $11,000 with an impressive average climb time of five minutes and four seconds.

The Stair Climb is an event organised externally to raise money for Lifeline, Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation and 000Foundation.

The brigade wanted to recognise the amazing effort that Tony has put in over the years, from training on the tower at Mount Donna Buang on those icy mornings, to rattling tins all around town. Tony’s energy and commitment has been an inspiration to many brigade members.

To honour Tony and his efforts, the brigade commissioned an artist to decorate an F-15 helmet with a fire truck and the CFA logo on a background of flames. The helmet is personalised with Tony’s name on the back.

Tony was presented with the helmet at the annual brigade dinner as well as a certificate of appreciation from Chris May from the 000 Foundation.
