More than 1,000 hay bales and a hay shed have been destroyed in a fire that started just before midday yesterday (25 November) in a hay shed at Mologa near Bendigo.
Six CFA crews attended the fire, including tankers from Pyramid Hill, Boort, Yarrawalla, Loddon Vale and Mitiamo. They found the shed and bales well alight on arrival at the property.
Firefighters established a mineral earth break to form a perimeter around surrounding paddocks and will allow the fire to continue as a burn off over the next few days.
Operations Officer John Cutting said that the cause was unknown and unlikely to be established due to the extent of the fire. He said it was not thought to be suspicious.
