Community Safety continues to support District 2

Continuing on from the numerous Fire Ready Victoria Meetings and community engagement at local events, from the start of February a series of Fire Ready Victoria street meetings were conducted around the Castlemaine and Campbells Creek areas.

The Community Safety team visited locations, speaking with residents about must have information for the fire season and the risks in their local communities aiming to raise awareness of local risk. These meetings provided residents with the opportunity to engage in discussion, ask questions and seek further information on a range of topics from the Fire Danger Period and Fire Danger Ratings to warning messages and bushfire survival plans.

In the coming months, members of the North West Region Community Education Group will be attending events in communities including the Macedon Brigade Community Market on Saturday 27 February, Harcourt Apple Fest on Saturday 12 March and the Taradale Mineral Springs Festival on Sunday 13 March, to name just a few. Members of the group have also been invited again to participate in this year’s National Red Balloon Day event on Sunday 28 February at the Epsom Bunnings Store in Bendigo. If you are nearby to any of these events or you see us out and about in your community, make sure you come and say hi, introduce yourself to the members and you can see what we do and how we can support your brigade.

Planning is still underway for further meetings and engagement at community events right across the region so if you have any questions please contact a member of the Community Safety team.
