D2 International Women's Day Lunch

District 02 played host to a lunch on Thursday March 9 as part of a belated celebration of International Women’s Day.

International Women’s Day is an annual event, occurring each year on March 8, which recognises the achievements of women while commemorating the movement for women’s rights.

The theme for this year’s event was “Be Bold for Change” which saw staff writing how they will be “bold” on cards which were placed on a white board for everyone to read.

The lunch kicked off with everyone helping themselves to a banquet of hot chicken, rolls and salads before getting the chance to catch up and have a chat.

Volunteer Sustainability Team Manager, Deb Salvagno, then filled the role of guest speaker updating the District on some of the work and plans that CFA are doing to improve gender equality within CFA.

Staff from the District and the Region as well as the Bendigo Fire Brigade attended the lunch to show their support for the event.

The day was made possible by a grant given to the District by Women’s Health Loddon Mallee (WHLM).

WHLM is a small non-government organisation which works to the keep women’s health on the agenda.

We would like to thank WHLM for their grant and all those who helped on the day to make the lunch possible
