Dristict 4 National Emergency Medal Presentation

If you have received an invitation to the Presentation of the National Emergency Medal – ‘VIC FIRES 09’ at the Heywood Community Hall on Saturday 20th June, you will need to RSVP now.

As you may be aware, in 2011, the ‘National Emergency Medal’ was initiated and added to the Australian Honours and Awards.  In 2009, Victoria experienced some of the worst bushfires in natural history and as a result, the 2009 Victorian Bushfires were declared a ‘nationally significant emergency’.  Individuals who rendered service during the specified dates of the declared emergency are able to nominate for the Award.

On behalf of members from all corners of Victoria, CFA submitted a consolidated schedule to the Australian Honours and Awards Secretariat (AH&AS) at Government House Canberra.

As a result we are pleased to advise that another 63 District 4 nominations have been successful and and these recipients will be awarded the National Emergency Medal.
