What better a way to celebrate our volunteers & their achievements then on National Volunteer Recognition week?
The Dunrobin & Nangeela Brigade is located in District 4 and is located close to the township of Casterton and approximately 40kms from the South Australian border. The brigade is now one of many brigades so far in District 4 to have been presented the National Medals this year.
This presentation was done in a different manner to the usual brigade held event and was instead held in collaboration with the Glenelg Shire’s National Volunteer Recognition Seminar. National Volunteer Week is the largest celebration of volunteers and volunteerism in Australia, and provides an opportunity to highlight the role of volunteers in our communities and to say thank you to the more than 6 million Australians who volunteer across various organisations including CFA.
Members who were awarded for their enormous efforts include Kelvin Bateman, John Black, Pat McGuinness, Tom O’Brien, Jeoff Hortle and Julie Bateman. Combined these members hold 282 years of service to the brigade and CFA. Each of the six National Medals was presented by Acting Assistant Chief Officer Gregg Patterson.
Guest speaker of the event Pierce Kelly (Dunrobin & Nangeela Member) who was awarded Young Citizen of the Year did a fantastic job describing the benefits of volunteerism on both self and community.
