Eaglehawk pavilion fire

Firefighters have managed to salvage memorabilia stored in an Eaglehawk pavilion damaged by fire early this morning.

Eaglehawk firefighter Brittany Maskell said crews arrived at Baldock Court at 4.20am to find the building fully alight.

“Crews using breathing apparatus were able to access the building and bring it under control within 30 minutes,” she said.

“There was quite a bit of furniture inside and memorabilia on the walls which was destroyed unfortunately.

“But our crews were able to rescue some of it from a mezzanine area.”

The single storey brick building – which is used by local sporting and community groups - was extensively damaged.

A police guard was on scene overnight.

Firefighters were recalled to the site shortly after 8am due to a flare up, which was quickly extinguished.

A fire investigator will attend this morning.

Four crews attended from Bendigo, Eaglehawk and Golden Square.
