Flooding at training grounds

The heavy rain falling across Victoria has caused flooding at three CFA training sites: Huntly, Penshurst and West Sale.

As a result, training dams at Huntly and West Sale are both overflowing. There are low levels of contamination in the water, however EPA advise that the risk to community and environment is assessed as low.

The Penshurst campus is also subject to local flooding and the stormwater overflowing offsite contains low levels of contamination. EPA advise that the risk to community and environment is assessed as low. The water in the training dam remains contained onsite.

CFA has a range of water management measures in place at all sites to reduce the impacts from heavy rain.

CFA is continuing to work closely with the EPA. Anyone with any concerns about their local environment should contact the EPA.
