Good Friday Appeal 2017

The Good Friday Appeal for 2017 was officially launched today at the Royal Children’s Hospital.

The face of this year’s appeal is Remy Dyer, an energetic toddler, who was at the launch today and kept the audience entertained with his cheeky smile. Remy was diagnosed with a rare brain tumour when he was only 7 months old and has since endured two 10 hour surgeries to remove the tumour.  Remy is on the road to recovery and is back riding his bike.

Remy now has regular appointments and check-ups at The Royal Children’s Hospital and always brings his infectious smile. Some of his favourite visits include attending aquatic physiotherapy in the custom-built hydrotherapy pool, which was purchased and built using the generous community donations through the Good Friday Appeal. The pool helps infants, children and adolescents achieve what they can’t do on land and will aid Remy as he continues to develop.

The Dyer family represents just one of the thousands of families that are supported every day by The Royal Children’s Hospital.

Since the Good Friday Appeal began in 1931, more than $310 million has been raised for the benefit of The Royal Children’s Hospital.

CFA members continue to be the backbone of the appeal collecting over $25 million since the late 1950’s.

Funds raised from this year’s appeal will go towards projects including providing video consultations to rural and interstate patients and allow further training for nurses and allied health therapists, as well as research into common childhood conditions at Murdoch Children’s Research Institute.
