Ice sends car off cliff

Slippery conditions saw one car slide for nearly five metres down Mt Donna Buang and another four into a roadside embankment in Warburton on Wednesday 9 July.

Everyone escaped uninjured and CFA and SES crews were on scene providing shelter and blankets for displaced drivers.

Victoria Police assisted with traffic control and worked with Parks Victoria to stop further vehicles from coming down or entering the mountain road.

The road will remain blocked as a grader arrived to clear the three centimetres of snow and make the road safe again.

Seven crews attended from Monbulk, Warburton, Wandin, Yellingbo and Wesburn-Millgrove as well as SES.

A specialised Bobcat from Eagle Towing modified for vehicle recovery work did a fantastic job removing vehicles. Crews worked well into the night to clear the area.

The damage to cars was minimal.
