CFA firefighters have been put through their paces in a live-fire training exercise at Wangaratta's newly reopened Emergency Management Training Centre.
A new PAD (practical area drill) area is now in use following a $3.6 million upgrade to the facility, which will be fully complete by the start of next year.
The facility allows for around 70 training drills to be conducted on the site. They include real-time fire simulations in a controlled environment, such as car fires, structure fires, burst gas mains and non-fire related exercises.
Staff and volunteer instructors will deliver the skills maintenance training sessions to volunteers across the entire North East Region and the state.
