CFA firefighters helped free a man’s hand from an industrial machine at a factory on Colchester Rd in Kilsyth South this morning.
The man was trapped in the hopper filling machine, which is used for food and beverage packaging, since 8.18am, with emergency services releasing him from the machine by 9.10am.
MFB, SES police, ambulance and Worksafe Victoria worked with CFA crews to perform the challenging operation.
District 13 Operations Officer Greg Christinson said crews were worked really well together to remove the man, delicately manoeuvring both the machine and the man’s hand.
“We were able to reverse a screw in the machine, which created some space for us to carefully manoeuvre his hand out,” Mr Christinson said.
“All agencies worked brilliantly as one to manage the situation. It was a great demonstration of how we work as an integrated team in these situations.”
A CFA truck from The Basin and two support vehicles attended, alongside two MFB trucks and a rescue vehicle, two SES rescue vehicles, ambulance and Worksafe vehicles.
