MASG partnership takes charge

Mount Alexander Catchment, Maldon, Metcalfe and Newstead groups have joined with Mount Alexander Sustainability Group to be a part of their battery recycling program.

Although Mount Alexander Catchment has had a battery recycling program in the past, there has long been a suspicion that batteries still end up in landfill. Working in collaboration with Mount Alexander Sustainability Group (MASG) ensures the batteries go through go a bone fide recycling process. MASG was very excited for the brigades to become part of the process because less waste will go into landfill.

Brigade members leave their used pager batteries in containers at their station where they are collected and taken to the MASG collection site. This joint venture enables brigades to dispose of unwanted batteries and supports another local community enterprise.
