New advertisement targets arson in Gippsland

A new TV advertisement produced by the Gippsland Arson Prevention Program (GAPP) ‘Stop Bushfire Arson’ is helping to raise community awareness to target and reduce the incidence of bushfire arson across the Gippsland region this summer season.

The advertisement was launched in November as part of Fire Action Week and is being aired on Prime TV and WIN TV during the fire danger period in Gippsland.

GAPP was established in response to the devastating 2009 Gippsland bushfires and is a core group of emergency services including CFA, the Department of Environment and Primary Industries, Hancock Victorian Plantations, Latrobe City, Baw Baw Shire, Wellington Shire and the Latrobe Valley power generators.

The program aims to prevent arson from occurring across Gippsland by educating the public and informing communities on what to look out for to prevent arson related fires. The program also urges individuals to report suspicious behaviour to Crime Stoppers.
