Planned burn on VicTrack land at Clarkefield

Clarkefield Fire Brigade successfully completed a planned burn for VicTrack on 2 February 2018 in the old rail yard land opposite Clarkefield Railway Station.

Planned

The burn was controlled by Clarkefield Captain Andy Payne with help from Wildwood and Riddells Creek brigades. Lancefield Fire Brigade assisted with the mop up by providing a crew and their thermal imaging camera.

From all accounts the brigades saw it as a great training opportunity and the burn was well accepted by the community.

A variable message sign (VMS) was in place from the day before the burn and landholders in the area were notified via a letterbox drop.

Unfortunately, permit extensions to burn the Macedon Ranges Shire Council roadside couldn't be obtained, but it's hoped that the textbook result will highlight how burning can be precisely applied to enhance community safety.

This was another example of a job well done by all involved!
