Senior Champs on the mark

Bring your swimmers to Warrnambool for the State Senior Urban Championships this weekend as its going to be a weekend of heat, both on and off the competition track.

The weather forecast for Warrnambool over the next few days predicts fantastic weather for this weekend's VFBV 130th Championships.  Check out the BOM's forecast here:

Having successfully hosted the State Juniors two weekends ago, the Brigade is in full readiness mode to host another successful event.  VFBV, Brigade, DMO and Tower Rigger personnel are currently setting up the track again.  Comments at the Juniors about the quality of the track and grounds have heartened the Brigade, and all involved are expecting fast times in ideal conditions over the weekend.  Note that the Discipline Competition will be held on the oval at the track at Friendy Societies Park.  Best place to park your car is in Victoria Park to the west of the track.  Programs for the event will be available as you walk into the track from Vic Park.

Warrnambool has enjoyed strong support from sponsors and supporters of the Brigade; major sponsor Origin Energy who have the Mortlake Power Station have been a significant contributor to both Warrnambool and other district Brigades (e.g. Thermal Imaging Camera for Mortlake Brigade).  This support paid off recently when the CO2 systems at the plant activated, neccesitating a significant response and detailed cooperation between Brigades and Origin Staff.  Telstra Store Warrnambool, Telstra Countrywide, GAAM Emergency Products, Chubb Fire Safety, the Firefighters Credit Un. and The Whalers Hotel are also recognised by the Brigade for their support.  While at the Championships check out the trade displays, catch up with the FFCU team for a great deal and enjoy a meal and a drink at the Whalers, situated near the finish of the Torchlight Parade at the corner of Liebig and Timor Streets.  Don't forget also to check out the souvenier tent and the CFA products and vehicle and training pod displays.

The torchlight will be a sensational event.  Best views will be in the area of Liebig and Koroit Streets, where the parade crosses paths.  At the finish at the Civic Green the Art Gallery will be open for people to view the Brigade's 150th Anniversary Display.  Torchlight commences at 8.30pm.

Some teams are already in town, with the Western Australian Brigades settling in; we in Warrnambool are looking forward to seeing you here!
