From today Victorians can set their location on the CFA website so they always have easy access to local information on Fire Danger Ratings, Total Fire Bans, Neighbourhood Safer Places, and fire safety meetings in their area.
As we approach the next fire season the new functionality will make it easier for the community to stay up to date with the latest fire weather forecasts, assess their fire risk, and make informed decisions about the safety of themselves and their loved ones.
If a visitor chooses to set their location, the site will remember those details on future visits to ensure their Fire Danger Rating and Total Fire Ban information is immediately available at the top of every page.
The local information page will provide more detailed information relevant to the set location.
Community members will also be able to see emergency warnings on the CFA home page that will take them directly to the relevant advice on the VicEmergency website.
These improvements come a month after the launch of a contemporary new design for the CFA website.
Other updates include easier access to the four-day Fire Danger Rating forecast and Total Fire Ban information by displaying the full forecast directly on the home page.
Changes to CFA's intranet, Members Online, have also been introduced to provide CFA members, both volunteers and staff, with better access to the latest information and tools they need to carry out their varied roles.
The public website and Members Online have been developed on a new content management system that will allow information to be kept current more easily by allowing content owners and subject matter experts to manage their own content.
CFA is continuing to improve its digital platforms and will be seeking feedback from the community and members on the usability of the websites and quality of the content.
Feedback on the public website can be provided on EngageCFA and CFA members can provide feedback on Members Online here .
