Update 4pm: CFA with the assistance of other agencies continue to decant a silo, moving the seed-product to a tank on specialised truck.
The incident has been called under control. Emergency services will remain on scene for a short time longer.
At 1.40pm: CFA crews with the assistance of other emergency services will begin to empty product within a silo at a storage unit on Waterloo Road in Trafalgar.
CFA District 9 Operations Officer David Chugg said crews hoped to empty the seed-product from the silo within the next hour.
"I'd like to reiterate the point that there is no risk to the community during this process," he said.
"Firefighters and experts at the scene are continuing with air monitoring and this will continue while crews empty the silo and also after.
"All emergency services are doing a fantastic job working together to get this incident under control."
Earlier: CFA crews are investigating hot spots in a feedlot storage silo on Waterloo Road in Trafalgar this morning, which firefighters believe is related to chemicals inside the silo.
There is no fire, smoke, gas or immediate threat to communities; however an advice message has been issued as a precaution.
Firefighters from Frankston, Hallam, Moe, Morwell and Trafalgar have been on the scene since 10.10am, working to determine what kind of chemical is causing the silo to heat up as part of their control strategy.
CFA District 9 Operations Officer David Chugg said some roads had been closed to ensure safety of surrounding residents.
The incident is not yet under control. An update will follow when details come to hand.
