VESEP funding announced for 2020-21

CFA brigades and groups will receive a share in more than $10 million in funding from the State Government as part of the 2020-21 Volunteer Emergency Services Equipment Program (VESEP) grants.

The 2020-21 VESEP is providing $14 million to emergency service volunteer groups for operational equipment, vehicles, trucks, tankers, watercraft, trailers and minor facility improvements. 

Under the program, the State Government contributes $2 for every $1 contributed by volunteer groups from organisations such as the Australian Volunteer Coast Guard Association, CFA, Life Saving Victoria, VICSES, or any eligible volunteer emergency service groups. 

Of the 145 successful CFA applications, CFA is receiving $10.2 million from the grants program. 

Part of this funding will go towards two new rehabilitation units at Truganina and District 12 Headquarters Brigades to support firefighter health and wellbeing. 

Six CFA brigades will also receive new Medium Tankers which will be great assets for those brigades. 

The funding also includes $1.8 million of statewide initiatives for brigades and groups which will improve the retention, safety, welfare and increase capability support for volunteer members. 

As part of this initiatives funding, 23 CFA brigades will be provided new Road Crash Rescue Equipment.
