Woodford community cleanup day

During Fire Action Week, Woodford CFA members are encouraging the community to take the opportunity to clean up their properties for the coming fire season.

This weekend the brigade is holding a community clean up day on Sunday, 24 November.

Woodford residents are encouraged to register at the fire station from 10am. A limited number of gloves and rakes have been provided by Bunnings and some tip passes for Statewide Recycling to dispose of green waste will be available to those who arrive early in the morning.

District 4 and 5 Community Education Coordinator Julie Owens said brigade members would be on hand in the morning to answer any questions about clearing properties in preparation for the Fire Danger Period.

“We have also done some doorknocking to talk to residents about cleaning their properties and will be holding a FireReady meeting this week to provide information as well,” she said.

“After everyone has finished their clean up on Sunday we’re encouraging them to come back to the station for a barbecue and get to know their local CFA members. The brigade will also be going through some training drills on the day, demonstrating their skills.”

The FireReady Victoria meeting will be held on Thursday, 21 November at Jubilee Park in Woodford from 7.30pm.
