It was a busy weekend for CFA crews, who responded to more than 130 fires across the state.
Callouts ranged from small spot fires to larger, more complex incidents that required significant resources and coordination.
The fire in the Kadnook and Chetwynd area is now contained and has been downgraded to a Watch and Act, after burning more than 1,250 hectares.
People not on fire-affected properties are allowed to return, however some areas remain hazardous due to fire-damaged trees and other safety risks that require further work.
The significant blaze at Chapple Vale in Victoria’s south-west is not yet under control.
Progress has slowed dramatically with no flames currently visible at the fire’s edge.
More than 70 personnel, 21 trucks, four aircraft, and bulldozers remain at the scene to continue suppression efforts.
As we head into summer, these fires serve as a timely reminder to monitor the VicEmergency app, heed warnings, and enact bushfire plans.
