Dundas ready for bushfires

Following a very successful group training exercise conducted at the CFA Training College- Penshurst Campus last Saturday, Group Officer Bert Astbury said “the group is now better prepared for the upcoming fire season”.

The majority of the group’s 18 brigades completed a series of drills including Hose relay, Burn over Drill, Structure fire and an update of the Regional Radio Dispatch Service Project.

Many of the newer brigade members took the opportunity to gain experience during these exercises prior to the fire season.

Strathkellar brigade were proud to show off their newly received Medium Tanker pictured below.  This is the first of the newer design Tankers to be received within the group.

District 5 Southern Grampians Southern Catchment Officer Steve Giddens said “It’s an ideal opportunity for brigades to prepare themselves for the upcoming season; last season was extremely busy, especially with the Grampians Fires in our patch, many brigades have new members keen to support their local brigade and protect their communities.

Following their training, the group enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by members of the group executive.
