Honour CFA people for distinguished service

There is less than one month left to nominate outstanding CFA people for an Australian Fire Services Medal (AFSM) as part of the 2019 Queen’s Birthday Honours.

Honour

Retired Regional Commander Mark Gilmore receives his AFSM from the Governor of Victoria Linda Dessau AC

It’s a prestigious honour. Only 28 CFA people have received an AFSM in the past three years, and this is your chance to nominate someone you feel should be added to the list.

The AFSM is awarded for distinguished service to fire services across Australia. Only one award is presented to an individual, and recipients are entitled to use the post-nominal letters AFSM. Medals are awarded biannually in the Australia Day and the Queen’s Birthday Honours lists.

The AFSM is awarded by the Governor of Victoria at a dedicated ceremony at Government House in Melbourne.

To nominate someone you know visit the CFA Awards website.

CFA nominations close 1 November2018.

All nominations are strictly confidential and the information provided will be used only to assist in considering the merits of the nomination. The person being nominated should not be approached for information or advised of the confidential nomination at any stage of the process.

Please refer to the CFA Honours and Awards Nominator’s Guide for assistance aligning the written nomination of a person to the criteria for the selected award and some guidance around the content of your nomination, so the nominee has the best opportunity to be considered for special recognition.
