Maryborough house fire

Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of a blaze that destroyed a Maryborough home early this morning.

CFA was called to the single storey weatherboard house on Rogers Street around 12.30am on Thursday.

CFA District 2 Duty Officer Chris Jacobsen said all occupants were accounted for.

“Luckily four people were able to get themselves out of the home safely,” he said.

“The fire appears to have taken hold of the rear of the property before spreading further.”

Three crews from Maryborough and Carisbrook worked to bring the fire under control within 30 minutes.

“Our brigades worked well to prevent the fire from causing damage to a house next door.”

CFA is working with Victoria Police to determine the fire’s cause.
