As the Emergency Services Blood Challenge 2020 kicked off on Monday, I take the time now to encourage members to register and donate.
I have been donating from the age of eighteen and will be taking part in the 2020 Blood Challenge.
The challenge, now in its twelfth year, encourages members from police, fire, ambulance and the SES across Australia to donate blood or plasma.
Not only is the challenge vital to ensuring Australia’s blood needs are met, it presents a unique opportunity for a bit of friendly competition with other services.
Last year, 56 different emergency services agencies, including CFA, made 11,408 donations to the cause, saving a massive 34,227 lives.
CFA finished third with 899 donations saving over 2697 lives.
I donate to help people in need. I am fortunate to be healthy and know that many people aren’t, so I do my bit to support.
Every year our members roll up their sleeves to donate and I’d like to thank everyone who participated last year; however 29,000 donations are needed within Australia every week. If you are a CFA member and can donate, I encourage you to do so.
Making a donation only takes one hour, yet it has the power to save three lives.
Make sure you register under the CFA Lifeblood Team so that we can collectively beat our amazing efforts last year.
