Motorcyclist rescued after leaving the road

A sensational autumn day for a ride didn't go to plan for a motorcyclist at Kancoona, north of Bright.

On Sunday 17 May, a 79-year-old rider went over the edge and down an embankment.

CFA crews were called to respond to the incident at 10.45am

The patient was four meters down the steep embankment that was covered in logs and vegetation making access to the patient difficult. 

Technical rope rescue teams from Bright, Mount Beauty, Wangaratta and Wodonga all worked together to haul the rider to safety. Ambulance Victoria and Victoria Police were also on scene.

The rider was rescued at 12pm and was in a stable condition but taken to hospital via air ambulance for observation.
