Ready For The Juniors!

The readiness level is high in Warrnambool as final preparations are made for this weekend's Junior Urban State Championships.

In 2013 its the 40th Anniversary of the Juniors, and appropriately they are being held in Warrnambool in the Brigade's 150th Anniversary year.

Infrastructure on the track and around the grounds has been building steadily this week under the guidance of CFA DMO Cam Gellatly and Warrnambool Brigade Leiutenant Steve O'Keefe and their teams, under the guidance of the VFBV.

All this has gone smoothly even with the Brigade playing a major part in support to the fires in the Grampians, with members filling roles on strike teams, as ground observers, in staging area management, DECC support and general coordination and dogs-bodying.

As of Thursday afternoon much of the shade areas were up, marquees were being assembled and the track infrastructure such as discs and timing equipment had been installed.  In typical Warrnambool fashion all these temporary instalments were tested by brisk winds on Thursday arvo, and everything stayed in place.  Brigade members are scanning the BOM website regularly and it looks like being a great weekend of weather in Warrnambol, so remember to bring your togs!

The Brigade appreciates the support of its partners in conducting these Championships, with CFA, VFBV and the Warrnambool City Council contributing significantly. The Brigade is also pleased to have major sponsor Powercor on board, as they have for previous Championships. People attending for the weekend are also reminded of the Brigade display at the Warrnambool Art Gallery.

The Championships comence with an opening Ceremony at 8.30am on Saturday morning.  Those attending should note that there will be limited parking inside the track and that there is lots of parking available close to the track in Victoria Park.  This park is to the west of the track and can be accessed off Koroit Street.  A gate has been installed between the parks for easy pedestrian entry from the parking area.
