Beechworth Rural Fire Brigade members with the new trailer mounted quick fill pump
Beechworth Rural Fire Brigade has teamed up with the local correctional centre and a Beechworth based national business to build a much-needed trailer mounted quick fill pump.
The trailer, constructed by inmates at the Beechworth Correctional Centre, was funded by local business Billson’s Brewery.
Beechworth Rural Fire Brigade Captain, Bruce Forrest said, “The trailer was a welcome addition to the local brigade that will support members on the fireground.”
“The brigade approached Beechworth Correctional Centre to find out whether it could construct a trailer that would accommodate the pump and appropriate fittings,” Captain Forrest said.
“After getting the go-ahead, brigade members designed a purpose-built mobile unit with features to support members on the fireground.”
“Our brigade has had longstanding support from the community of Beechworth, forging multiple partnerships with local businesses over many years.”

The new quick fill pump can fill a fire truck in less than four minutes at 1,200 litres a minute.
Local business Billson's approached the brigade with the idea of donating a piece of equipment that the brigade needed.
The brigade then contacted Beechworth Correctional Centre to find out whether it could construct a trailer that would accommodate the pump and appropriate fittings.
The new trailer features key start ignition, independent fire hose reel, electronic panel with USB charging points and stainless steel water manifold with the capability to fill two trucks at once and clip on a third firefighting hose.
