YES it really is that cold in Ballarat - to all those people that complain that Ballarat is cold here is the proof.
It started snowing in Ballarat at about 11.00 today and has been snowing steadily for the last half hour.
Snow has fallen in the Ballarat city centre, Clarks Hill, Buninyong, Warrenheip and surrounding suburbs. Calls are coming in of a reported snow boarder attempting to go down Sturt Street as conditions on the roads become very hazardous.
Ballarat is experiencing one of its coldest days this year with an expected top of 4 degrees today and the heaviest snow fall seen in Ballarat for some time.
District staff are preparing hot thermoses to take out to any crews having to attend incidents in these freezing conditions.
