CFA members came together to celebrate the official opening of the new Molka Fire Station on Thursday, 15 June.

CFA Acting CEO Jason Heffernan joined Molka Captain Bruce Rennie and Minister for Emergency Services the Hon. Jaclyn Symes for the opening of the new facility.

The new $500,000 station is located on Longwood-Shepparton Road and has replaced the brigade’s previous station, which was built in 1975 and no longer served the needs of the members.

The new site has two generously sized engine bays which will provide adequate space for modern firefighting appliances as well as a dedicated turn out room, toilet, and kitchenette facilities.

Molka Fire Brigade Captain Bruce Rennie said the upgraded station will be a fantastic new asset for the brigade and the local community.

“Our members can enjoy more space inside the station as well as new facilities such as the kitchenette and meeting space,” Captain Rennie said.

“We’ll also have more space outside the station which will assist with access to our fire trucks, brigade training and it will also allow members to park near the station.

“The new station will help our brigade better respond to incidents within our local district, so this brings huge benefit to the wider community.”

The brigade has 17 members, making up half of the town’s total population of 34.

Acting CEO Jason Heffernan said the old station has served the brigade and the district for many decades but was pleased to see the delivery of an improved station for the Molka Fire Brigade.

“The new station will be a great community asset for the brigade, allowing our volunteers to continue doing what they do best, which is protect lives and property,” he said.

“Thank you to the brigade for their continued service and invaluable contribution to CFA and their local community.”
