Multiple agencies were involved in the rescue of a man who had fallen in Gembrook.

A multi-agency high angle rescue took place in Gembrook last Saturday involving Wandin Fire Brigade, Monbulk Fire Brigade, Gembrook Fire Brigade, Fire Rescue Victoria, Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria.

At approximately 10pm, crews responded to a call to search for a male who had fallen at Seven Acre Rock.

Wandin Fire Brigade Lieutenant Brad Legg

“When we arrived, it was completely pitch black. The location was heavily forested but were able to identify the direction of the patient from his screams,” he said.

The different agencies then worked together to reach the patient, who was on a ledge, and lift him up the rock. Once he was safely on the rock, the emergency responders then worked together to relay the stretcher off the rock face.

“It was a great example of all the emergency services working together, every agency present was involved in getting the patient to safety,” Lieutenant Brad Legg added.

The patient was then manoeuvred down the path to a waiting ambulance where he was treated and transported to hospital, where he is now recovering.
