Rollover rescue in Alpine National Park

A four-wheel drive vehicle with three occupants left the road about 10 kilometres south-west of Hotham, rolled several times and came to rest on its wheels, around 25 metres down a slope.

The large emergency response during the evening on Friday 26 June included about 35 people from Victoria Police, SES, CFA and Ambulance Victoria, and 12 vehicles.

Two occupants managed to free themselves from the vehicle before emergency services arrived, but the third was trapped with the possibility of spinal injuries.

Bright SES carried the extrication assisted by members from Mount Beauty Fire Brigade.

The casualty was moved up the slope by a high angle team comprising CFA members from Wangaratta, Wodonga and Mount Beauty and SES members from Bright.

The casualty was taken to Wangaratta Hospital.

This incident was notable for the seamless integration of the four services.
