A group of CFA members and their guests have been treated to a night at the Australian Open, recognising their contributions to CFA and their local communities.

The group attended the tennis on the evening of Monday 17 January and spent the night with a fantastic view, watching Australia’s own Ash Barty take on Lesia Tsurenko.

Nominations for the event were put forward by each of the districts to recognise members who had made valuable contributions to their brigade, district or local communities. Members from each region across the state were in attendance.

The event was supported by Delaware North Companies Australia, with 2022 being the seventh year their corporate box has been offered to CFA members.

“it was a great privilege to represent CFA at such an event, it was fantastic to be chosen to attend,” Laharum CFA member Maurie Dumesny said.

“I play tennis myself, but I’d never actually been to the tennis before. It was such a special time to be able to go and see it in such a way with such a great atmosphere. Plus, watching Ash Barty win was a definitely highlight!”

The event was a fantastic way to recognise the contributions our members make to their communities each and every day.
