Phil and Deb Rees with their National Medals
On 2 December Baddaginnie Fire Brigade members and their families gathered at the Baddaginnie Hall for a brigade service awards presentation night.
After a two-year hiatus caused by COVID-19, 38 brigade members were presented with CFA service awards ranging from five years to 55 years.
Members Debbie Rees, Phil Rees and Geoff Riddock were also presented with the National Medal which recognises prolonged, diligent service to the community in hazardous circumstances. All three members have contributed significantly to the brigade, in various leadership positions and active firefighting, while also mentoring younger members joining the brigade.
Long-serving member Rod Cook was presented with a CFA Life Membership, awarded to CFA members who have dedicated a minimum of 30 years or more to CFA. Rod has been a member at Baddaginnie Fire Brigade since 1967. During this time he has contributed as a brigade member, as well as serving in leadership positions including secretary, treasurer, lieutenant and captain. He is currently the brigade's communications officer. He has also served as the secretary of the Benalla Group brigades.
The presentation and dinner was an excellent opportunity to gather and recognise the service and achievements of members. Thank you to all Baddaginnie members and congratulations to those who received awards.
