CFA will be showcasing their latest vehicle fleet along with the latest protective equipment at the upcoming Firefighter State Championships at Mooroopna.

CFA / VFBV State Championships are one of CFA’s proudest and longest traditions, running for almost 150 years with the first State Championship being held in Melbourne in 1874.

On display this year will be the new workwear which includes a range of garment types across female and male sizes and designs including cargo pants, shirts, jackets, shorts, belts and headwear.

Head of Fleet & Protective Equipment Danny Jones said we are very excited to showcase the new workwear.

“Having volunteers and staff wearing the exact same gear will help unite us as one organisation easily recognisable in the communities we support,” he said.

“We hope our members and guests come along and have a look at some of the new equipment, and old, as we show how this has evolved over time. Our fleet display will also highlight some of the specialist vehicles used in unique areas from sand to snow.”

Visitors will be able to see the new heavy tanker, which is different to the previous model, as it’s a 4,000 litre tanker with a fully automatic transmission. The display will show some of the underbody and chassis / tray components that are hidden from view on a completed vehicle.

A refurbished tanker designed for operating in sandy terrain will also be present. This tanker has been refurbished to operate more effectively in sandy terrain including the fitment of super single tyres and a central tyre inflation system that can be operated from the cabin. This gives a greater contact surface area to help traverse soft sandy ground.

Patrons will also be able to look at the prototype Breathing Apparatus (BA) Light Support Vehicle. This vehicle has been developed to support in-field BA operations and training activities through the provision of BA cylinders, face mask cleaning and basic rehabilitation for firefighters. It is able to carry 24 BA cylinders and has an onboard freshwater tank as well as staging mats, tables and cooler chairs.

CFA’s friendly staff will be on hand to answer any questions you may have and will be wearing the Hi Vis “Infrastructure Services” vests.

The 2022 State Championships will be held in Mooroopna in March. The Urban Juniors event will take place on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 March, while the Urban Senior, Rural Junior and Senior competitors will take to the field on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 March.
