Grassfire in Mickleham

Firefighters and waterbombing aircraft have been battling a grassfire in Mickleham this afternoon (21 December).

 

 CFA crews worked to extinguish a fast moving grassfire on Old Sydney Road in Mickleham, after being notified to reports of a tractor fire just after 11am today.

Upon arrival, crews discovered the fire had spread to nearby paddocks.

There are currently twenty-four CFA units on scene with Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) crews and firefighting aircraft also assisting.

The blaze has impacted approximately fifteen hectares and was declared under control just after 1pm.

Crews will remain on scene blacking out for some time.

The fire has been determined to be caused by a tractor, undertaking hay baling.
