Earlier this month, CFA rescue crews from Monbulk and Yea fire brigades strapped into their rescue equipment alongside emergency services colleagues at Keppel Lookout near Marysville to brush up on their specialist skills.

The training day involved working together in challenging terrain to practice remote casualty care and technical rope rescue operations.

Crews simulated working together to locate an injured casualty, provide medical assistance, and then safely ascend a steep and rocky slope.

The scenario involved a casualty who was dealing with a fractured leg and suspected snake bite.

Once crews had successfully lifted the casualty to safety, the local Lions Club of Marysville & District hosted the crews for a BBQ lunch.

Multi-agency training activities allow brigades to work with Victoria Police, VICSES, Ambulance Victoria and other agencies to share knowledge and learn how to work more efficiently together in a controlled environment.

This prepares local crews for future incidents, helping them work together seamlessly when they’re assisting members of the community.
